As part of our job search provision, we provide a number of job search services. Our 5E Guide can help you kickstart your job search in the correct way…
Looking for the right job?
Where do I start looking?
We will show you how to search websites and newspapers to find the job vacancies that would interest you most. You can use our computers to look for jobs and to research companies.
What’s the right job for me?
Together we can identify what skills you have. By discussing jobs you have done and activities you enjoy doing, we can put together a profile with you. This will help us to tailor our search to jobs that would suit you the best. Remember, even if you’ve never worked before, you have skills that would be useful to employers.
Workshops Our various personal development workshops and basic skills courses will give that extra confidence boost which will help you to get work, and hopefully find it more enjoyable when you get there!
Work Experience and Voluntary Placements
Employees often ask for experience in the workplace. We can help find you a placement which will help you to gain confidence and skills in the area you’re applying for, and will look great on your CV!
Interviews can be nerve-wracking. We run confidence-building and interview workshops to help you prepare for that moment when you meet the employer face-to-face. These workshops include tips on preparation, advice on self-presentation, and mock-interviews to practice your technique.
Applications Employers and job agencies often ask you to fill out an application form, frequently online. We can help you to complete forms, open an email account and send your CV online.
CV writing We can help you to create a smart CV with all the information required by employers. You can produce different versions of your CV with different skills foregrounded for different applications.
Cover Letters Sometimes you might be asked by an employer to explain why you want the job you’re applying for. Our advisors are happy to help you with this, and we will even supply envelopes and stamps!
References You can use our telephones to ask former employers if they would be referees for you. We can also provide you with reference letters ourselves.
